Abstract:
Kamal-Saleh Dam, located in the 74 km the southwest of Arak city, build on the “Tireh” river with a total reservoir capacity of 110 cubic meters was operated in 2010. The main purpose of the construction of this dam is to supply the drinking water of Arak city and its population as well as large industries located nearby its water transmission pipelines.
The dam’s lake with a total surface area of 400 hectares (at a normal level) is one of the tourist attractions of the region in the southwest part of Zagros Mountain. The operation, maintenance, renovation, and repair of all installations, machinery, and equipment of the Kamal-Saleh dam and its water transmission pipeline from the dam to Arak city was the subject of the project to deliver 49 MCM of drinking water to the consumers within a period of 12 months.

Project outcome:
The project was implemented with the following major outcomes:
- The operation, maintenance, and safety control of water installations and physical protection of the dam’s structure including dam reservoir (lake, body structure, shaft intake, hydro-mechanical and hydro-electrical installations, floating pumps on the lake), quantitative and qualitative water measuring equipment, and water flow measurement devices
- Inspection and control of water pump stations, water transmission pipelines, and power stations
- Physical protection and maintenance of water treatment plant and installations, cleaning and washing the water tanks with a capacity of 30000 m3
- Maintenance and irrigation of green space of the project site
